Richard Humphrey began his formal
art education at the Los Angeles Art Center College of Design in 1973. From
there he joined the staff of The Aerospace Corporation in 1977 as a graphic
designer. Humphrey has an extensive background in design, illustration and computer
graphics. In 1985, he began to study plein-air oil painting learning the principles
of color, composition and unity. While he loves to paint landscapes throughout
the United States, his primary subjects are landscapes of the Palos Verdes Peninsula
where he grew up. A Signature Member of the California Art Club, Humphrey has
exhibited in juried exhibitions throughout California including the Los Angeles
Natural History Museum and the Pasadena Historical Museum. His work is in collections
throughout the United States and Europe.
